CALGARY – Police have laid impaired driving charges against a man involved in a major crash on Metis Trail that left one person fighting for his life.
It happened just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, between 80th Avenue and Country Hills Boulevard, and involved four vehicles.
Police say a southbound Dodge Ram lost control, crossing the centre line and swiping an oncoming Mazda before colliding head-on with a BMW sedan. The Dodge Ram was then hit by a northbound Buick Enclave.

The 20-year-old driver of the BMW was taken to hospital in critical life-threatening condition; an 18-year-old woman in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Two of the four passengers in the Buick, including a 24-year-old woman who is eight months pregnant, were taken to hospital as a precaution, but didn’t receive any injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 36-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.
Police have charged Kulwinder Singh Chohan with impaired driving, impaired driving over 0.08 and impaired driving causing injury.
