TORONTO – At least 22 vehicles were involved in a major collision that snarled traffic on the westbound Gardiner Expressway early Friday morning.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. between Strachan and Dufferin Street. No serious injuries were reported.

The highway was re-opened around 11:00 a.m.

Although the cause of the collision is unknown, police have been warning of the dangers of black ice on the roads due to the cold temperatures.

Earlier in the morning, one person was taken to hospital after a vehicle rolled over on the westbound Gardiner near the Don Valley Parkway around 5:30 a.m.

The incident caused traffic to halt for nearly two hours until crews could clear the scene.
