Gallery: People take to social media as snow cripples southern U.S.

The winter weather that swept across the southeastern United States brought roads to a standstill and left many people stranded in shopping malls, schools, or the homes of strangers.

Many took to social media to document the unusual winter weather.

Though the dose of winter weather crippled parts of the south, some people tried to deal with it the best way they could: through humour.

The U.S. National Weather Service issued a hard freeze warning (temperatures of -2 C or below during the growing season) from southern Louisiana to Georgia and parts of the Florida panhandle. The now and freezing rain will end on Wednesday.
