MONTREAL – Call it Senate bingo.
The NDP is continuing its crusade against the Senate at this weekend’s Liberal policy convention in Montreal, handing out “spot a Senator” cards mocking the Liberal senators who were recently booted from caucus.
The game comes with a Twitter hashtag: #sawasenator.
The senators, who now refer to themselves as the Liberal Senate caucus, are still party members. Delegates will debate this weekend on whether to remove them from the party’s constitution – but it wouldn’t take effect until the next convention in 2016.
Meanwhile, the senators have created their own website to showcase “the activities of the Liberal Senators who play a key role in our political and legislative process.”

Senator Jim Munson was at the convention Friday to debate a policy resolution about autism, a cause he’s championed for years. He said he hasn’t felt any ill will from delegates and is “getting lots of hugs.”

An NDP spokesman said there are no prizes for spotting all the senators. “We wouldn’t be able to verify,” he said.
The honour system, it appears, doesn’t count.
