Pedestrian hit and killed by C-Train

CALGARY – One man has died after being hit by a northeast C-Train on Tuesday night.

The victim, believed to be in his early 20s, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound LRT.

It happened at 12 Avenue and 26 Street N.E. around 8:30 p.m.

Police have interviewed several witnesses and say it appears warning lights indicating an oncoming train were flashing at the time.

Investigators were initially looking into the possibility the victim may have been wearing headphones, however, police say no headphones were recovered from the scene.
