TORONTO – Toronto police are alerting the public about a series of moving-company scams.
Police say the scammers advertise online and when the movers arrive they have their victims sign a receipt that is really a new contract at a higher price than agreed.

The movers refuse to offload the victim’s property until the they pay the higher fees.
Investigators are asking anyone victimized by the scam to call Toronto police.
