Ongoing strike action by container truck drivers at Port Metro Vancouver could potentially put a damper on one of the busiest weekends for local bars.
According to port officials, 90 per cent of container truck traffic has come to a halt, meaning thousands of containers are stuck in limbo.

Now, some in the hospitality industry say the transportation of popular beers has also come to a halt, with shipments stuck in containers at the port.
In order to compensate, several bars have been saving their supply of Guinness, ahead of St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
“Because St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Monday, you’ve got Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, so all of a sudden St. Patrick’s Day’s a four-day event,” said Jesse Leitner from The Five Point restaurant and pub in Vancouver. “So I’d say that we would move anywhere from seven and ten kegs.”
