MONTREAL – Civil security officials in towns across Quebec are keeping a careful eye on several waterways Sunday.
Environment Canada has issued severe rainfall warnings for the Montreal region, Laurentians, Lanaudiere, the Richelieu Valley and Drummondville.

As much as 50 millimetres of rain could fall on the southern part of the province. Combined with rapidly melting snow and ice, flash floods are threatening areas around the Milles-Iles, Chateauguay and St-Francois rivers, among others.
About 50 residents of Drummondville have returned home after being evacuated yesterday afternoon due to the rapidly rising St-Francois River. Authorities there continue to monitor the situation carefully.
