Thousands show up for Vancouver’s 4/20 rally

Previous Story: A thick cloud of pot smoke is rising over downtown Vancouver this afternoon.

Thousands of people have descended on the lawns around the Vancouver Art Gallery for the annual 4/20 pro-marijuana rally.

In years past, the event was designed to raise awareness around decriminalizing marijuana.

Many question whether it’s still relevant after Sensible B.C. campaign failed to trigger a provincial referendum on B.C.’s marijuana laws.

Canadian police chiefs have long called for laws that would ticket people for pot possession instead of laying charges. 

The size of the crowd is already making getting in and out of downtown this afternoon difficult.
