SASKATOON – A man is in custody after a short chase Friday evening involving a stolen Saskatoon police crusier.

Around 7 p.m., police were called to a disturbance at a home in the 100-block of Powe Street where a man was reportedly armed with a knife.

When officers arrived, the armed man immediately confronted them.

A Taser was deployed in an effort to stop the suspect however, he managed to evade officers and get into a police car.

One officer was dragged a short distance during the escape.

Police pursued the stolen vehicle for a short period until it collided with a truck on College Drive near Cumberland Avenue.

The suspect then attempted to run away but was quickly apprehended by officers. He was taken to hospital as a precaution.

His name has not been released.

The injured officer was treated for minor injuries and released from hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

A collision analyst unit investigated the crash and the entire incident will be reviewed as a conducted energy weapon was deployed.
