Bob Bjornerud, the former agriculture minister, says he won’t run in the next provincial election expected in April 2016.

Bjornerud jokes that even though he doesn’t look like it, he will be 70 by the time of the next election and it’s time for someone else to carry the Saskatchewan Party banner.
Bjornerud was first elected in the constituency of Saltcoats, now named Melville-Saltcoats, as a Liberal in 1995.

He helped form the Saskatchewan Party in 1997 and served as Agriculture minister for five years after the party won the 2007 election.
Bjornerud joins Finance Minister Ken Krawetz and Social Services Minister June Draude, two other former Liberals who founded the Saskatchewan Party, and announced their retirements last month.
