This was another rural riding that the Liberals took in the 2003 and 2007 elections, but went back to the Tories in 2011, with Monte McNaughton defeating MPP Maria van Bommel by nearly 7,000 votes. The riding, along with its main predecessor Lambton East, had elected the party that formed government in every election since 1987.
