Second arrest made in Roger Byer murder investigation

SASKATOON – A second arrest has been made as RCMP continue to investigate the murder of Roger Byer.

Mounties arrested Dwight Windrum, 56, of Moose Jaw without incident on Tuesday in Saskatoon.

Windrum is facing charges of accessory after the fact to murder and trafficking involving a .40 calibre handgun. He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Wednesday morning.

Byer, from Prince Albert, was last seen on Jan. 20, 2010 in the Melfort area. His truck and body was discovered in a heavily treed area on an abandoned farm site on April 1, 2010.

Last week, police arrested Daniel Smith, 57, and charged him with first-degree murder in the death of Byer’s.

Smith is being held in custody until his next court appearance in Melfort on May 27.
