Police found her 23-year-old mother a few blocks away and she told them she was high on pills and “forgot” her daughter was with her, a news release said.

The baby was taken to Brandon Regional Health Centre as a precaution and then taken into custody of Child and Family Services.

No other children were found in custody of the mother, nor in her home.

The mom will face a charge of abandoning a child in Brandon court on July 31.
