Calgary restroom in the running to be named best in Canada

CALGARY –  Washrooms at a Calgary tourist destination have been named among the best in Canada.

Cintas released the finalists in their annual Canada’s Best Restroom Contest on Wednesday.

The facilities in the Destination Africa exhibit at the Calgary Zoo made the top five, and are in the running to be named the winner for 2014.

“Head to the hut to clean up and get out of the African sun. Each circular hut serves as a loo, complete with wall-to-wall tribal décor for a true glimpse into African culture,” says Cintas.

“After a trek through the tropical rainforest and a stroll through the savannah, guests head to the hut to clean up and get out of the African sun.”

Other washrooms in the running include Patria in Toronto, Planet Hollywood in Niagara Falls, Shaw Club Hotel & Spa in Niagara on the Lake and the Vancouver International Airport.

Voting for the best loo is now open, and closes at the end of September when the winner will be named.

Cintas says a growing number of companies are going the extra mile to create the most memorable restrooms imaginable, and their contest is a way of recognizing their efforts.

Last year, the Valleyview Shell Super Station in Valleyview, Alberta was named the top spot to visit when nature calls.

2014 is the first time a Calgary loo has been a finalist.
