SASKATOON – A suspect was brought into custody without incident around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday after a standoff that lasted 13 hours in Saskatoon.
Saskatoon police spokesperson Kelsie Fraser says various weapons-related charges may be forthcoming. Forensic identification officers are being called in to investigate.
The 20-year-old man has been taken to hospital for assessment.
Originally, police were called to a house in the 100-block of Avenue O South before 4 a.m. where a man was attempting to harm himself.
He was believed to be armed and barricaded in the basement.
Police say the man continued to shoot a firearm occasionally from inside.

A friend of the man told Global News he suffers from mental health issues.
According to police, a woman who was inside earlier was able to get out safely around 6 a.m.
Patrol officers, the tactical support unit and crisis negotiators were at the house attempting to resolve the situation.
Traffic restrictions in the area have been lifted.
