TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs have unveiled a new initiative that will pay tribute to the club’s history by immortalizing up to 12 players in stone statues.

The team announced Thursday that Ted Kennedy will be the first player honoured.
Two other former Maple Leafs will also be named at the team’s inaugural fan festival in September. “Legends Row” is set to be unveiled Sept. 6.
It will grow as the team builds up to its centennial season in 2016-’17.
