LETHBRIDGE – Police have arrested 40-year-old Lucien Maurice Crane Chief, previously wanted on a charge of second degree murder.
The victim, 37-year-old Cynthia Pearl Badarm, was rushed to hospital after reports of an assault in the 400 block of 5th Street South Wednesday afternoon.

Lucien Maurice Crane Chief, 40, was arrested following the incident, charged with assault and released.
Badarm later succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy determined she died of blunt force trauma.
Police then upgraded the charges and issued a warrant for Chief’s arrest.
Police say Chief was located and arrested without incident in a south side neighbourhood thanks to a citizen’s tip.
A court date for Crane Chief has not yet been set.
