Former Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis has won the vacant Ward 39 Scarborough Agincourt seat.

Karygiannis took 57 per cent of the votes, easily defeating the second-place Franco Ng, who had 18 per cent.

In February 2014, former budget chief and ward councillor Mike Del Grande said he won’t run for council again, making Ward 39 one of a handful of wards without an incumbent this election. Del Grande served as budget chief from 2010 to 2013 and was elected as councillor representing Scarborough-Agincourt in 2003.
