Today, voters in Burnaby went to the polls in the 2014 civic elections.
Longtime mayor Derek Corrigan, who was first elected in 2002, was re-elected with resounding support. He was running with the Burnaby Citizens Association, who were re-elected to every seat in the local government: mayor, councillors and school board.
Independent Sylvia Gung made headlines with her campaign promise to ban kissing and holding hands in public, as well as promising to ban election campaigns.
She finished with 372 votes.
