2 members of English nationalist group protest FIFA poppy ban on roof of headquarters

ZURICH – Two members of an English nationalist group have staged a protest on the roof of FIFA’s Swiss headquarters.

The men claiming to belong to the English Defence League held up banners protesting FIFA’s refusal to allow England players to wear embroidered red poppies on their soccer shirts honouring Britain’s war dead.

The protest came after British Prime Minister David Cameron called FIFA’s decision “outrageous.”

FIFA said Swiss police had been called.
