Firearm allegedly pointed at Saskatoon police officer

SASKATOON – Saskatoon police are searching for a 32-year-old woman after she allegedly pointed a handgun at a patrol officer Saturday. Police were investigating a theft in the area when the complainant pointed out a suspect vehicle at around 1:15 p.m.

The officer investigating conducted a traffic stop near Avenue J South and 20th Street West. While attempting to arrest the woman in the backseat, she pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at the officer.

The officer retreated to a position of cover at which time the suspect fled the scene on foot. A canine unit was called in but members were unable to locate the woman.

The suspect is known to police.

No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.
