Courier avoids Winnipeg’s worst pothole-riddled roads

WINNIPEG — Liz Chodor knows roads. She has made her living driving on them for about 25 years.

“They are horrible,” said Chodor, a driver with First Choice Courier. “You learn to avoid certain streets.”

She said her routes are decided around pothole-riddled streets. She does her best to not drive down St. James Street, Erin Street, sections of Main Street and parts of Portage Avenue.

“I feel it in my spine,” said Chodor. “When spring comes, (I) go for massages because of the potholes.”

She hopes the city’s record $103-million investment in infrastructure will help and wants the city not just to fix major routes but to look at a lot of residential roads as well.
