HALIFAX – Nova Scotia Business Inc. has agreed to offer the Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY) up to $22 million in payroll rebates to open a financial services centre in Halifax.

The business development agency says the bank will create 150 new jobs this year in cheque processing, accounts payable and fixed asset accounting.

The agreement with the Royal Bank estimates the potential for up to 500 new jobs within 10 years.

The provincial agency says the agreement with the Royal Bank to set up the centre in Bedford was made after a year of discussions.
