VANCOUVER – Riders on the West Coast Express are expressing their frustrations due to another delay on the system this morning.

A broken down freight train was blocking the crossing near the Maple Meadows station at 6:25 a.m.

The affected train (#2) started moving again after a short delay. Customers dealt with three delays on the system last week and as Translink explained to one customer, it has been a “rough stretch” for the service.

“There’s been over 100 delays in the past six months and that is absolutely unprecedented,” said Colleen Brennan, Translink communications VP. “And the vast majority of those delays, over 100, are related to the issues that we’ve had with grain trains being on the track and various other things happening with respect to CP’s use of that track.”
