UPDATE: Two 12-year-old children are facing various arson related charges in connection with these fires.
The young boy and girl are charged with two counts of arson causing damage to property and one count of arson with disregard for human life. The children cannot be named as they are under age, however they will appear in youth court at a later date.
REGINA – Firefighters were kept busy Saturday evening as they responded to a number of suspicious fires, all in the same area of town.

The first happened in an alley behind Athol Street just before 7:00 p.m., when wood pallets beside a garage caught on fire.
Just ten minutes later, the same crew responded to a fire at a vacant home two blocks away on Garnet Street. The blaze took out the porch and melted the siding.

When crews extinguished the fire on Garnet Street, they were called to a building on Dewdney Avenue, where debris on the lawn was engulfed in flames. The three fires are now being investigated by police.
Also on Saturday, crews were called to a non-suspicious house fire on Trifunov Crescent. A fan started on fire in the attic, so crews had to rip out the ceiling to extinguish the flames. Nobody was hurt.
