At 2 p.m. the group slowly made their way to Place d’Armes bearing giant effigies and marching to the beat of the drums.
Participants were treated to the lighting of the Solstice fire, a tobacco ceremony and an homage to Kondiaronk, a Huron chief who died in Montreal in 1701.
Ceremonial speeches were followed by drumming, singing and dancing much to the delight of the assembled crowd.
