WINNIPEG — Burning fires in Northern Saskatchewan are causing hazy and smoky conditions in Manitoba Wednesday, with conditions expected to worsen Thursday.
Around 5:30 p.m Wednesday evening, Environment Canada issued the alert. In the statement Environment Canada said, “While hazy conditions persist across the province, a second round of thicker smoke is expected to move into Manitoba Thursday.”
Winds will become more northwesterly throughout the day Thursday, making Manitoba downwind of the on-going fires in Northern Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada says, “Areas closest to the Saskatchewan border will again be the most affected by reduced visibility and poor air quality values. Smoky conditions are expected to continue on Friday before winds across Manitoba begin to turn southerly on Saturday.”
