“Heaven gained another beautiful angel today, we all loved you Sonja, taken too soon,” shared yet another.
The 17 year old died Tuesday evening when the car she was driving rolled several times south of Edmonton.
Emergency responders were called to Range Road 252 just south of Township Road 512 in Leduc County shortly after 7 p.m. According to RCMP, Burton was driving north when she lost control on the gravel road. The car left the road and rolled several times before coming to a stop on its roof.
Burton, who was the only person in the vehicle, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the crash continues, but it has been determined she was wearing her seatbelt, and alcohol or weather weren’t factors.
