TORONTO – Mayor John Tory wants suggestions on where the giant “TORONTO” sign installed at Nathan Phillips Square should go after the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games are over.
Tory launched a social media campaign Thursday asking the public to use the hashtag #TORONTOsign and to tweet at @JohnTory for ideas.
The City of Toronto said it intends to keep the 3 metre tall and 22 metre long display for the duration of the year, followed by a tour in 2016.

“High Park, Yonge Dundas Square, maybe we can put it outside the Canadian Tire Centre, the home of those awful Ottawa Senators,” Tory joked in a promotional video.
Pan Am organizers say the 3D sign is a “legacy piece” with a multi-year lifespan.
However, questions are being raised regarding the cost of moving the display from one location to the next.

The sign, which originally cost around $60,000 to build, costs about $30,000 to install at Nathan Phillips Square.
