17-year-old charged in northwest Calgary stabbing murder

WATCH ABOVE: Police have charged a 17-year-old boy with second-degree murder in connection to the stabbing death of an 18-year-old man over the weekend. David Boushy reports.

CALGARY – A 17-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of an 18-year-old man at a northwest Calgary party on the weekend.

The suspect can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

An 18-year-old is also in custody and being interviewed by homicide investigators in relation to the Sunday stabbing.

Police were called to a Collingwood residence in the 4000 block of 19 Street N.W. around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after reports of a man in medical distress.

The victim was transported to hospital, and died a short time later.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
