Manitoba under a heat advisory as the temperature climbs

WINNIPEG — Hot, humid weather is on the way and Manitobans are being urged to make sure they stay safe.

The province’s chief public health officer issued a heat advisory Wednesday afternoon. The temperatures over the next few days are expected to be in the 30s in addition to high humidity.

The advisory warns older adults, infants and young children, people with chronic illnesses and those who work or exercise outside are at the highest risk for adverse effects of the heat.

People are encouraged to drink lots of water, wear loose fitting clothing and avoid going outside during the hottest time of the day.
