7-year-old cancer patient Jeremiah Succar knows the lyrics to “Fight Song” inside out.
Succar, who has memorized the words of Rachel Platten’s hit song, had the chance to show the singer-songwriter just how much her track means to him by singing a duet with her on his hospital bed at at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on 21 August 2015.
The meeting was triggered through social media by Succar’s parents, who realized how much the lyrics to Platten’s song resonated with their son.
The message spread with the hashtag #RachelMeetJeremiah on Instagram until it reached the singer on Twitter.
Platten praised Succar’s voice and dissolved into fits of giggles when the young patient requested her autograph at the end of their duet.

The video was posted by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles yesterday in honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness month.
