In April, the federal government announced $100 million for the program, which is intended to foster automotive technology development and boost the competitiveness of Canada’s automotive supply chain.

Mulcair also said an NDP government would make contributions to companies from the automotive innovation fund tax-free.

His promise for the automotive sector comes a day after he committed additional funding for the aerospace industry.
