Ottawa police investigating video allegedly showing taxi driver threatening Uber driver, passenger

WARNING: The above video contains profanity and may be offensive to some viewers.

Ottawa Police are investigating after a video was posted online allegedly showing a taxi driver threatening an Uber driver and a passenger.

Police say they can’t confirm whether the video implicates a taxi or Uber driver.

The video, which surfaced on Saturday, appears to show a man standing outside of a parked vehicle at the Fairmont Château Laurier hotel, shouting profanities and threats at the vehicle’s driver.

“Does it look like I’m joking?,” the man said to the driver. “If I see you again, you’re dead meat. Go follow the law, get a real job.

“I’m not joking with you, get out,” the man demands.

“Shut the f***-up,” the man repeatedly yells at the passenger. “No one’s talking to you…come out and talk to me.”

Video shows the irate man opening the rear, drivers-side door, telling the passenger to get out of the car.

“You take a real taxi, you f***ing cheapskate,” the alleged Ottawa taxi driver said.

Police said officers reviewed the video, and won’t comment further, other than that no victim has come forward to police.

Ride-hailing app Uber launched in Ottawa in 2014 to much opposition. Uber rides tend to be cheaper than traditional taxis because they don’t have to pay the same regulatory fees.
