BROSSARD – An 8-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog over the weekend.
The child was with her mother at a park in Brossard.
Longueuil police said her head, neck and hands were badly injured.

The girl was taken to hospital; her life is not in danger.
The dog’s owner initially would not surrender the animal for testing, even refusing to come out of his house to speak to officers.

It took authorities a few hours, but eventually he handed the dog over.
Police would not confirm the breed or type of dog.
