EDMONTON – Police are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found inside a Fort Saskatchewan home Friday morning.
The RCMP was called to a home in the community of West Park at around 6:20 a.m. for a complaint of shots fired.
“Our investigators did find upon entry of the home two deceased persons. I’m afraid I can’t give a location or exactly what they saw. But we have two deceased persons within the home,” said Insp. Gibson Glavin, RCMP.
Investigators are looking into the relationship between the two people. Police are also contacting individuals who may have information that will help with the investigation.
No one has been arrested but police said there is no reason for the public to be concerned for their safety as a result of the deaths.
“What we’re doing is we’re trying to eliminate anyone who could possibly be associated with this and see where that takes us, but I do want to be very clear that there is no immediate public risk,” explained Glavin.
Officers stressed later Friday, “no arrests have been made at this time; however, the investigation continues to lead police to the advise that there is no risk to public safety as a result of this incident.”
Police aren’t sure if there have been previous calls to the home.

“That is something that is a critical point to this investigation. It would be going on right now: have we been here before.”
A neighbour told Global News he heard two gunshots, and saw a truck running outside the home that appeared to be at the centre of the police investigation.
That truck was later towed.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is helping with the investigation.
By 4 p.m. Friday, police had reopened traffic in the neighbourhood. The one home remained under police security.
