A lockdown at a unit in the Saskatchewan Penitentiary near Prince Albert has ended. It was put into place on Thursday afternoon.
Visits to the institutions have resumed after the medium security unit was locked down on Oct. 1 so guards could carry out “an exceptional search.”

In a release, Correctional Service Canada officials said they are committed to preventing the entry of contraband into the institution.
The release also said they are working in partnership with police to take action against those who attempt to bring in contraband to the institution.
