HALIFAX – Newfoundland and Labrador folk singer-songwriter Ron Hynes died Thursday evening, his manager told Global News.
Charles MacPhail said over the phone from Ottawa Valley that Hynes died in a St. John’s hospital from complications due to cancer at about 6:30 p.m.
“He will be greatly missed,” said MacPhail, who wasn’t available for further comment Thursday night.

Hynes, who who often referred to himself as a “man of a thousand songs”, would have turned 65 next month.
He won many awards for his music and “Sonny’s Dream” was one of his most popular songs.
