SAINT-LAZARE – Residents came just 17 signatures short of launching a referendum on a new proposed town hall in Saint-Lazare Tuesday.
Hours after the petition closed at the town’s library, it was announced only 483 of the necessary 500 signatures had been provided.
The proposal to build a new hall for the town of 20,000 involves a bond issue of $10 million over 30 years and a tax hike to cover the project.
