Most Redblacks fans on Twitter left looking forward to next year

In just the second year of their existence, the Ottawa Redblacks managed the unthinkable, making it to the CFL’s championship.

While they ultimately fell short against the heavily-favoured Edmonton Eskimos 26-20, they still seemed to have captured the hearts of CFL fans in the nation’s capital.

Some fans commiserated on Twitter, while already looking forward to Year 3 of the latest incarnation of CFL football in Ottawa.

Previously CFL teamsin Ottawa included the Renegades (2002-2006) and the Rough Riders who were founded in 1876 and folded in 1996.

Some fans were commiserated by their significant other — hopefully this doesn’t lead to a break up.

Another fan pointed out how far the Redblacks had come in just one season.

One Ottawa supporter appeared to celebrate in spite of the outcome.

While the Redblacks were losers on the field, they were winners in at least one fan’s heart — or pocketbook.

No comment yet from Redblacks superfan Catherine McKenna, although she can be forgiven as she is across the pond at Cop23.
