Residents upset as Beaconsfield mulls 22-unit development

BEACONSFIELD – The City of Beaconsfield is pushing through with its plan to rezone part of Beaurepaire Drive to accommodate townhouses – but not everyone is on board.

The site in question is at 100 Beaurepaire Drive; residents know it simply as the old Esso station.

It’s now just a vacant lot.

A public consultation was held on the matter Nov. 23, with some residents voicing their misgivings about the amount of traffic such a large complex could bring.

Others expressed concerns over safety and garbage pick-up.

The townhouse project, proposed by Construction Jean Houde, is slated to include 22 units.

If it is approved, ground-breaking likely won’t occur until next fall.

Residents who oppose the project have been told they must collect at least 12 signatures and present them to the city.

That move would then produce a register, which would have to occur by January.
