Man killed in daytime shooting in Entertainment District

TORONTO — A man has been killed after a daytime shooting in downtown Toronto Friday afternoon.

Toronto police responded to the call just after 4 p.m. in the King Street and Peter Street area, close to 80 Peter St.

Const. Victor Kwong said multiple witnesses reported numerous gunshots being fired, with some people reporting up to 10 shots being heard.

“Some people said it came from one car directed at another car. A couple people saying they saw a silver Infiniti leaving the area,” Kwong said.

“A K-9 unit has been called out, all of the officers have been called out, ETF has been called out, someone else who witnessed it said one car stopped and fired into another car. That other person in the car has been shot and appears that they are unresponsive.”

Paramedics rushed the patient to a Toronto trauma centre where he died of his injuries.

Kwong said the investigation is ongoing and police will be speaking with multiple witnesses.
