Pastor Philip Grandine charged with the murder of pregnant wife

TORONTO – After just three years of marriage, Pastor Philip Grandine is being charged with first-degree murder after the drowning death of his wife Anna Karissa Grandine.

Police responded to a bungalow at 12 Marsh Road on October 17 to investigate a report of medical distress. Upon arriving, they found the woman who was quickly transported to hospital.

Anna Grandine died in hospital later that day. The cause of death, according to a press release from Toronto Police, was drowning.

She was pregnant at the time of her death. 

Police have arrested and charged Anna’s husband, a 25-year-old pastor who had served at Ennerdale Road Baptist Church.

Anna Grandine was born in Pasay City in the Phillipines where she lived until 1994 when she moved to Toronto with her family.

Graduating from the University of Toronto in 2006, she held an Honours Bachelors degree in Human Biology and Archaeology and worked for Berkley Canada, an insurance agency in Toronto.

She also volunteered at several Baptist churches, including Ennerdale Road Baptist Church.

Her husband appeared in court on Tuesday.
