TORONTO – We’re only partway through the holiday season and already close to 500 Ontario motorists have been charged with impaired driving, including 95 this weekend alone.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says the force’s Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign has resulted in a total 764 charges laid against 467 drivers.
Another 305 drivers received warnings for driving with a blood-alcohol level between .05 and the maximum allowable .08, or 80 mg of alcohol per 100 mg of blood.

Last year’s campaign, which ran from November 20, 2014 to January 4, 2015 led to 986 total charges laid.
The 2015-2016 campaign continues until January 2.
