It’s been a rough week for U.S. presidential hopeful Ted Cruz after questions arose about whether he was eligible to be president. Now, thanks to a campaign troll, the Republican is being accused of liking a famous Canadian band: Nickelback.

That’s an apparent campaign troll holding a sign which claims Cruz likes Canadian rock band Nickelback.
The mystery sign-holder has been spotted at two of Cruz’s campaign stops this week, just days after Cruz’s birthplace was called into question.

Cruz was dealing with remarks from rival Donald Trump that Cruz’s birth in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father raised doubts about his eligibility to be president and could dog his campaign for the White House.
The U.S. Constitution says only a “natural born Citizen” may be president. Legal scholars, however, generally agree the description covers foreign-born children of U.S. parents.
Cruz was born in Calgary in 1970 while his parents were working in the oil industry. His mother, Eleanor, is from Delaware, while his father, Rafael, is a Cuban who became a U.S. citizen in 2005.
Cruz has said that because his mother is a citizen by birth, he is also one. Under U.S. law, anyone born to a U.S. citizen is granted citizenship no matter where the birth takes place.
Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2014, amid speculation he was preparing for a presidential run, less than a year after he released his birth certificate.

There have been some not-so-serious rumours that Cruz, who is known for having a sense of humour, has banned maple syrup from campaign headquarters.
Nonetheless, it appears his Canadian connection, and apparent liking of a Canadian music group that people love to hate, is still a trending topic on social media.
