WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Goldeyes have given manager Rick Forney a big vote of confidence.
The Goldeyes and Forney have agreed on a 3-year contract extension that will keep him with the club through the 2018 season.
“We take great comfort in knowing that Rick will continue to lead the Goldeyes,” Goldeyes’ owner Sam Katz said in a media release. “Stability is always a major factor in maintaining a high level of success, and few managers, if any, have a track record as stable and as successful as Rick Forney.”

Forney, 44, is entering his 11th season as Goldeyes manager and 20th overall with the organization. He has an overall record of 537-444 for a .547 winning percentage.
“I’m very thankful for the trust, as well as the opportunity, that Sam and Andrew (Collier) have given me to continue on as the manager of the Goldeyes, and very much look forward to the 2016 season,” said Forney.
In 10 years at the helm Forney has guided the Fish to seven playoff appearances including the 2012 American Association championship. He’ll also re-assume the pitching coach job which he held from 2008-2010. Jamie Vermilyea held the position last season.
The Goldeyes have also extended the contract of hitting coach Tom Vaeth. He’s held the job since 2003 and his new deal is also through the 2018 season.
