REGINA – The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) is touting a ‘banner year’ in 2015 at its Saskatchewan entry ports.
CBSA officers in Saskatchewan seized 43 undeclared firearms in 2015, a 33 per cent increase from 2014.
In one case on August 22nd officers at the North Portal crossing used X-ray technology to intercept eight undeclared firearms, including a fully automatic AR-15, from a trailer bound for Alaska.
Child pornography seizures across Southern Saskatchewan also rose significantly, from one in 2014 to five in 2015.

On January 18th CBSA officials at the North Portal crossing seized 147 overcapacity magazines from a Kentucky man bound for Alaska. The traveller initially only claimed 15 magazines so he was issued a $1,000 fine.
CBSA officers in Saskatchewan processed more than 536,00 travellers in 189,000 cars and 149,000 commercial trucks.
