Dozens of WRHA patients’ information stolen from nurse’s vehicle

WINNIPEG — A bag containing more than 60 Winnipeg Regional Health Authority clients’ personal information was stolen from an unattended vehicle nearly two weeks ago.

The bag was stolen from a parked vehicle that was left unattended by an on-duty nurse. The bag contained the nurse’s schedule and personal health information of clients according to a news release issued by the WRHA Tuesday morning.

Between Jan 14 and Jan 21 a list of clients whose information could potentially have been in the stolen bag was compiled. 67 people were contacted by the WRHA and made aware of the situation according to the release.

A police report has been filed and the WRHA is working with the Winnipeg Police Service in the investigation.

An internal WRHA investigation is underway to determine whether all protocols were followed.
