The New Brunswick Police Commission has suspended its investigation into the Saint John Police Force’s handling of the murder of Richard Oland.
Richard Oland’s son Dennis was found guilty of Richard’s murder, and lawyers are planning an appeal of the conviction.

After the trial, the police commission announced they were launching an investigation into the handling of the case, specifically why Inspector Glen McCloskey asked another officer on the force to lie about McCloskey being at the scene of the crime.
The police commission said in a release on Friday that they would be suspending their investigation pending the outcome of the appeal.
